I would hope that EFN can spot OPN a few bucks for some $9 ethernet cards.
A few skipped business lunches would cover it.
I attempted to donate a large amount of hardware a few months ago from a
business that was upgrading, but I was turned away. At least 20 Pentium
PC's with NIC's, amongst a pi

Seth, how about you hang Larry out to dry in private (even though he did
nothing to deserve it), instead of publicly embarassing him on this list
and burdening us.
He's in free speech land. You owe him an apology.

Try 43 W. Broadway. I don't think the taco joint next
It was a FreeBSD ISO, from ftp.freebsd.org at about 630 megs. Perhaps the
Linux images are smaller. Also, this takes into account any net
congestion during the download, although I did it overnight. The
thoughput was about 24 KBps.

Try 8 hours on a 256k DSL circuit.

See http://www.tivofaq.com/ for loads of good information.
I have a standalone unit, so I can't answer that question.
Tivo are currently offering a $199 price for a lifetime subscription ($50
off).. well worth it.
May as well use a regular VCR if you want to set the Tivo manually.

I'm looking for a bit of xdm assistance, and I'm not sure where to
start. I've perused the man page, but I'm still baffled.
First off, this is running on my standalone machine (FreeBSD 4.2), and not
an X terminal.
I've been looking at the config files in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm.
By default, whe

Slackware 7.1, 2.2.16.
For the first time, I'm ditching the training wheels of the canned
kernels, and I'm compiling my own, in order to customize it to my hardware
and to reduce bloat/memory requirements and to speed boot time.
When I boot from the newly compiled kernel, I get the following mes

There were only 5 messages posted to eug-lug on the 30th, and 1 on the
31st. We must have all been out trick or treating in our penguin
outfits last night. :-)
But yes, we need to see the entire header section of that errant
message. It was probably spam.

Thanks to all who wrote re: my NFS install question for Slackware.
I need to install to a laptop, and I'm going to use my Linux box instead
of trying to run an NFS server from Windoze.
There are 4 install disks that I made for the install: boot, root, PCMCIA
and network. All of these disks are
Has any one done a Linux install via NFS.. specifically, between a Win98
box and a Linux machine? The install files live on the Windows box. I'm
running a supposed NFS server on the Windows machine, but the Slackware
install routine can't do the mount after the IP address of the windows box

Castle on W. 11th. "Wintel only" is their attitude. They do have a
beautiful display case. I go in there to look at the drives and cards,
then I buy elsewhere. Yea, I'm bad. :)

EFN might be able to use it as a donation, if for some reason it is
abandoned.
