Awesome. I found an xorg.conf backup from Ubuntu. Switched them out, and
everything is crispy.
glxgears hitting 250+ fps @ 1650x1080 with XGL 3D
desktop, all running from a live CD. Awesome.

The refresh rates I posted in my first message are correct and work on
other distrobutions. Why is it that THAT particular
xorg.conf causes me to stop being able to use 1650x1080 after adjusting the
refresh rates?
