I use vlc.
You may have to install the w32codecs, which have questionable legality,
but definitely work.

I do it by buying and installing the Imendio Codec pack. There are other
ways (I believe mplayer and vlc have limited wmv support) but I haven't
found them to be terribly reliable.

In case it's not clear, what I will offer in trade is *not*
the broken one. I will buy you a new drive of equal or greater
capacity, equal or greater performance. And I can throw in
some $$ as well. Or another hard drive if you prefer. Just
