Cryptography in the Database
Kevin Kenan
Symantec, Information Security
ABSTRACT
By focusing on the threats to data at rest, this talk explores how we can use
cryptography to preserve the confidentiality of sensitive information. Several
different encryption and key management strategies will be covered and attacks
against those strategies will be detailed. Since a cryptographic solution is
shaped by the particular threats it is deployed against, this talk aims at
elucidating the types of concerns a database encryption system must address.
