You'll note in that last post how I went into culture shock, not
having been outside the US for awhile: one forgets how we take
obesity for granted in the USA. I gave up beer for a whole year as a
result, not wanting to be as fat as that guy in th

I've had a long talk with Jim over beer, old OSCON, also Alan Runyan
of Enfold.Plone and I hung out for a few days in Canada, goofing off
some, but I saw serious work happening (sheesh guy's fast in vi !).
But now Jim and I just pass each other in the halls, said "Hi" to Alan
in Chicago.

Just wanted to say I really appreciate the effort that
was put in to getting these Chicago Pycon talks
archived to digital media in that high bandwidth file
format we call MPEG, MOV, WMV or whatever we
call it. A typical 30 minute talk yields a file of over
7 gigabytes on this hotel venue's equipm

Finding it ironic how "let's vote for our flag" turned into wrestling
with the machinery in the voting booth.

Works for me. I get a list of contestants, a thumbnail page, a full size page.
I don't think I'll vote though. Feeling like I don't live in Europe,
so I shouldn't have a say.
Good work though -- very promising graphics.

Plus I really *loved* this "not centered, indented" remark!
Yep, that's a good Pythonic sense of humor I thought.

Big sigh that we only get the "eyeglasses" effect (Lithuanian flag
lenses) for one more year (2009). Glasses gone in 2010.
I like that it's customized as to time and to place (*that* seems like
a right idea to me -- but then none of the others say they're
unswappable).

I think that's a *very* good point.
The "Euro" in EuroPython means "in Europe" which *need not* be
considered synonymous with "EU" -- the political ins

I like the idea of collage -- certainly the current Python logo
(twin snakes, Mayan flavor -- or is that Incan?) would look
right at home in some Euro context (it comes from the
Netherlands after all, just like New Amsterdam -- only later
New York).

On the other hand, maybe you've already finished the job and I'm just
too out of the loop to know about it.

Yes, I could just check some web controls, but a person on the ground is
sometimes invaluable. Like I have this leather coat with a sheep like
interior that'd be way uncomfortable most days in Portland, where it is
