The week before it melted, I hit a particular hard bump with the truck, so I have some suspicion that the batteries may have moved from that bump and either the post was damaged (maybe sheared partially off) or the clamp was never tigh

Frankly, I think people *will* figure it out. There may be lots of confusion when reading and listing to marketing hype. But when someone goes to test drive or buy a *EV (fill in P, B, etc), they will know whether or not it takes gas. And they will decide if the need that "feature" or not. It's
