EVDL,

EV’s are not just a car but a spirited community of like-minded
individuals. They like to communicate about EV’s!

We are proposing a national two-way radio channel to make it easy to
communicate using the inexpensive FRS radios (typically less than $20 each).

Not only does this allow EV drivers to make contact on the open road, it
also lets us share ideas and coordinate charging. Imagine being able to
simply call on the EV channel at a charging station and being able to talk
to every EV driver who is plugged in there to negotiate sharing. With a
radio range of at least a mile or so, this makes coordinating around
chargers very easy without having to publically leave our phone numbers
everywhere.

We propose Channel 3 Tone 5 as a representative neumonic of the national
average cost to drive an EV of 3.5 cents a mile.

See the web page: http://aprs.org/EV-radio.html

Our EV club often does EV events and Drives, and using these radios to
communicate among all drivers is far easier than trying to keep up with 50
phone numbers.

Spread the word.
