I first met JB at the Stanford auto EV rallies in Palo Alto California. He was
an electronics engineering student back then. He would bring his own home-brew
Porsche 944 conversion including rolling his own motor controller with its
fully exposed wiring circuitry, using his own design driving the IGBT's. It
looked so cool. He had a lot of skill in power electronics and mechanical
stuff. His talent back then was impressive. He mentioned a project for an EV
that would go over 200 miles, that was unheard of back then. I knew he would be
able to pull it off, this was before the Roadster was ever announced. Also it
been a secret project back then.

JB has always been approachable and an easy going guy.
