On January 4 2017 LIGO detected a third Black Hole merger and the most distant one yet, 2.9 billion light years. A 31.2 solar mass Black Hole collided with a 19.4 solar mass Black Hole resulting in a 48.7 solar mass Black Hole with 2 solar masses converted into gravitational wave energy.
