I don't know much about contributing to this project, so I'd appreciate some help and guidance in getting the tools (what do people recommend?) and connecting to the source code. I'm running RedHat 7.2 and Gnome, but I've never compiled Evolution. Among other questions: should I use C

As an addition to Ettore's message, there is a fair bit of S/MIME code
already written (although untested) in evolution/camel/. This code
currently uses libnss3 from Mozilla in case you'd like to try playing
with it.
There is also some code in evolution/composer/e-msg-composer.c and

does this, but not well at all. I'd program a plug-in, but MS doesn't
include security in the API.
