Hi You can try this if you are using outlook. Select all file in folder & right click on send it to mail recipient. Now all files will be added to OL mail & in body you will have all files names. Just copy & paste it to your excel file & filter it out!! or check this VBA http://www.xl-central.

Do you have any experience in Excel VBA? It would be fairly simple to write a macro that lists the files in a folder. then, create a column that has the new name and have another macro rename the file. but implementing it requires that you know a little about VBA. Paul --
