We have a small number of users, having issues where people they send
attachments to, particularly pdf's can not open the attachment and are
seeing it as a win.dat file.
This problem is user specific as it follows the user from PC to PC. We

Check to see if two objects have the same SMTP email address. I've seen two
issues lately.
1. Multiple Primary smtp addresses on the same object.
2. Multiple objects with the same SMTP address.
I believe it's the web management tool we use, but can't verify.
