Besides the "jaws" tool previously mentioned (which I haven't used
personally), "adobe acrobat" or the "ghost" set of postscript tools will
help you get any file converted to pdf (print job to postscript file to
pdf). We use the adobe distiller service to monitor a network share,
allowing everyone
Possibly as another example, Adobe and Trace Research Center host
email-based conversion tools (pdf to txt/html), at:
http://access.adobe.com/access_email.html
and you might prevail upon them to share the outline of the process
mechanism, or perhaps purchase the tools if they make them availab
Sure ... have built several white-box server systems that are now in a few
small offices, utilizing promise ide raid technology underneath w2k-s &
exchange ... nary a problem (but haven't turned off backup schemes at this
