If you are using Word as your email editor the from option isn't
available from the view menu. You can either disable Word as your
editor, or you can select the from field from the drop down menu next to
the Options button on the Toolbar. This is also how you show the BCC
field.

Look in Outlook with a MESSAGE OPEN. Expand the window if necessary by
clicking the down arrow at the very bottom. IT WORKS, I USE IT EVERYDAY
AT THE UNIVERSITY WHERE I AM THE EXCHANGE ADMIN / POSTMASTER.

Cool, but I just don't see this from field option?
The view menu doesn't contain anything that I can see that leads me to
this menu? (OL XP)

Okay, You have an Exchange server. It hosts mail for two domains:
First.com and second.com. You have it set up correctly so that mail is
flowing to the correct mailboxes. Your recipient policy is set to stamp
mailboxes with all necessary smtp addresses.

If I understand your question, you have a user that has smtp addresses
from both domains. His addresses are [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED]
It could also be [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED]
is Mikes primary address. Since it is primary, this is the " "From"
address displayed in Outgoing mail.

On occasion Mike opens a message addressed to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and
wants to reply using that same return address. How am I doing so far?
If I don't have the right question the answer is irrelevant.

Since [EMAIL PROTECTED] is primary, if mike does nothing, his from address
will be [EMAIL PROTECTED] But, if he wants to answer any mail and have the
return address be [EMAIL PROTECTED] then he must expose the "From"
field on outgoing e-mail. This is done with the Outlook View menu. Open
the View menu and expand it. Find "From Field" and select it so that a
checkbox appears.

Now Mike can put in any address that he has "send as" permissions to. He
cannot put [EMAIL PROTECTED] for example. He can put in the second
address on his user object: [EMAIL PROTECTED] If [EMAIL PROTECTED] or
[EMAIL PROTECTED] have delegated him send as permissions, or if these
permissions have been given by a sys admin using the "mailbox rights"
tab, then Mike can also use [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED] as
legal from addresses.

If Mike tries to use an address that is not legal on that system, he
gets an error message.

Clear as mud?

Sure, just pop down the "from" box in Outlook view and enter the non
primary from address.

I have a second domain hosted on my e2k box. I added it to the default
recip policy. What I want to know is if the functionality exists, or
there is a better way to set it up so that when user "a" receives an
email from the non primary address, when they reply that email is used
in the email.

I don't see how this would possible, but just asking!
