appliance may not be best fit for Essential Business Server. I'm
currently running Sophos PureMessage on mailbox server but
renewal cost is quite high and hence I was looking into
alternatives. I'm going to look into Hosted Email Security

Yes. But generally you’d put it in front of the Edge server, not
behind it.
