Do you have a dedicated PDC or is it one of the Exchange Servers?
On the double-take configuration are you failing one exchange server over to another
or do the exchange servers failover to a dedicated target server?
I don't know if Microsoft certified double-take or not but I know it works v
I agree with checking your WINS servers. If you have multiple WINS servers make sure
both are clearing out the Source server after the failover.

You can adjust the time delay from when the server fails to when it actually assumes
the roll of the Target server.

We tested Double Take but never implemented it. There wasn't an option to
change the "failover time". It would automatically fail
I would look into Trend Micro's exchange product. I've used the demo version a couple
of times and it's easy to work with. I don't know about costs but I like it better
than Nortons or InoculateIT.

I just went through this issue. Microsoft believes it was the virus scanning software
(CA) and the non-aware backups attempting to backup the database, even though the
backups were not running at the time the services stopped. We configured the virus
software (non-exchange aware) not to scan

I have installed the NSI Double-Take solution for exchange. It's a really slick
package as long as you set it up properly. We have failed over the exchange services
twice with very successful results. This was on an NT 4.0 SP6a and Exchange 5.5 SP3
environment. The target server is the File
