Okay—this one probably has an obvious answer, but I just can’t seem to
find it. Doing google searches
comes up with lots of hits that look like the same issue, but I’m not finding
the solution. Help from the gurus
please! I have two users who regularly receive a word attachment from a
detective outside of our organization.
The attachment is fairly important to our district as it is information
for them to post about registered sex offenders in the vicinity of our
schools. Instead of receiving the
attachment now though, they receive a lengthy, garbled e-mail that appears to
be the attachment. Based on the
dates of what works and what doesn’t, it appears to have started at the time I
moved their mailboxes in the upgrade from our EX5.5 sp3 server to our Ex2K sp2
server and has been broken ever since, but I haven’t heard about it until
recently. According to the
detective (this is from the user), other districts are still receiving this
attachment just fine, but I’m not convinced if it’s our system. On our E2k server I’ve set Global Settings, Internet Message format,
properties of default, message format tab, mime setting set to “both”. On the Advanced tab, Exchange Rich-text
format is set to “determined by individual user settings”—should this be set to
“never user” or “always use” instead?
For our two internal users, one is definitely on Win2k sp2 using OL2k,
but I think the other is still win98 w/OL97—haven’t verified that yet. I don’t know whether they use word for
their e-mail editors. There also seems to be an odd, second “subject” line that shows an
expanded list of the usernames from the “To” field. Here is a portion of the message, modified just a bit as I’m having
trouble posting it to the list (hmmm, it thinks I’m sending an attachment): -----Original Message----- From - detective@outsideourorg Sent - None To - mass mailing list full of users from many
districts + other locations Subject - very long mass mailing
list of users, expanded to actual e-mail address names Subject - Sex Offender Community Notification Flyer Date - Thu, 18 Apr 2002 15:43:29 -0700 M I M E-V e r s i o n - 1.0 X – M a I l e r – I n t e r n e t M a I l S e r v I c
