isnt this indicative of a mail loop? haven't seen this happen to my
boxes yet, so just from what I read here...any one offer any other
causes?

Sorry to sound like a bit of a novice, but each day our Exchange 2000
creates one or more files within //exchsrvr/mdbdata. They are named similar
to E*.txt and are approximately 5MB in size. I can open the files using
NOTEPAD but they just seem to contain jibberish. Can you
applications. Don't mess with them, they are committed
in full to the db when you do an online backup.

Oh yea, and I think you mean they are in the format E***.log for
example, not E*.txt.
