I think that should work - we run our internet mail through a content
filtering AV/AS gateway and catch it there so our configuration is a bit
different.

But yes, that will solve your issue if you setup the group to accept only from
authenticated users.

I always remove the SMTP addressess on the group...that way, the internal
users can still send, and external users cannot.

Put up a *nix server running postfix and Maia Mailguard. Let it import
your SMTP addresses from only those OUs that you want, and set it up
to reject unknown recipients.
This will protect your enterprise from stupid dictionary attacks,
instead of exposing all of your SMTP addresses in Exchange to
PROTECTED]
