I thought I should post an update to my Hotmail problem. I recently signed up to https://postmaster.live.com/snds/ - which showed the amount of spam I was forwarding to Hotmail servers. (300 per day, 90%+ spam) This is almost certainly why they are silently dropping email my users send through
