Keeping in mind that once you have tamed/armored Exim, you still have to

Hi,
Like lots of people I've having a hard time with spammers misusing my
customer's sites and services so I decided to look into using the
acl_not_smtp and acl_not_smtp_start ACL's.
I've cracked part of my problem that of tracing the sites by using
acl_not_smtp_start to add a received header to
If I am not mistaken, if the message was not yet delivered to the final
destination, any changes you make to that destination (forward, alias, etc)
would be seen on the next delivery attempt.

Irrelevant to Marc's post, but nano supports colouring as well. I believe
though you may have to get the dev version, but

Hi,
I'm new to the list and I've looked through the archives for an answer first
but no luck.
We have exim running and it has been working fine. Our exchange server died and
mail destined to the domain it services is queued in exim now. I have put

Hello,
I'm getting the "Unrouteable address" error (this must be a classic)
when I try to send to remote mail accounts. I don't receive anything
so when I look to the log (tail -f /var/log/exim4/mainlog) I get this:
andresluc...@gmail.com: Unrouteable address
But the thing is that I can see gma

You need to define custom ACL. Do smth like this:
domainlist nosv_domains_whitelist =
lsearch:/etc/exim4/nosv_doma

You can disable it. :) But IMO joe is the best editor out there. And
I've configured exim with non-colored joe for 7 years. But I got
tired of hard to read configuration. And I've been using joe for 14
years at least so I could say

Same goes for the def: operator, as highlighted in the OP's picture.
Exim's syntax is actually quite internally consistent.

Oh, I though ${ was the expansion - but your comment makes logical sense.
So 'perfect' coloring would need even more work. First to recognize

$ doesn't signify a variable, it signifies an expansion. The use of $
when assigning an acl variable would be inconsistent with this.

Does the ratelimit command updates its stats every time it is called, if so do
I need to use the no update options on any subsequent use.

I got tired of single-color-hard-to-read-text on editor when configuring
exim - so I quickly implemented in syntax highlighting into joe (Joe's
Own Editor) state machine. However working with Exim config file is not
that simple, as configuration syntax is not the best possible. This
