hmmm I'm using LM6.1 and attempting to compile some rpms. The build
works but it utilises pentium optimisations rather than AMD K6 ones. I
assume that their is a problem in the rpmrc file declaring the system as
a straight pentiumindeed looking through the rpmrc there is no
mention of K6.

Hi,
I'm running Mandrake 6.0 and KDE. One thing I miss is having a console
like in a Solaris machine I have at work. All error messages are sent
there, and we usually keep in in one corner, as a sort of warning
window.
Is in possible in Linux to have a similar console? I'm not

I attempted to start a program that I had just compiled. I started the
program with a command line in a terminal that I had just opened in
kfm. X-Windows appreared to be locked up and I thought that kfm had
crashed.

Dear friends:
Am too tired after a night of downloading (just 90 minutes),
installation, organizing desktop, etc. The printer problem, as Jose
Sanchez suggested, was caused by the switchbox that connects my two
computers. With the printer cable connected directly to the computer,
Mandrake had no

The first virtual console will display some error messages. I know this
isn't what you want, but you could hit Ctrl-Alt-F1 from time to time.
Maybe open an xterm and redirect tty1's stdout and stderr to stdout on the
xterm.
(don't ask me how, it's been a while since I've

I am just a beginner is the Linux World, so please forgive me if this is a
no brainer.
I have mandrake 6.0 installed as a file server running 46 winclients. All
has worked fine until the server was accidently unplugged. Now Linux wont
reboot. It freezes halfway through the boot and says
I installed the MySQL server 3.22.27 RPM. The problems are no more.
I still don't know what the problems were about, but after spending all
last night looking for answers I would suggest others update.

OK, I've got a Diamond V770, and Mandrake 6.1.
I got it working just fine with the included
SVGA driver for 2D, but no 3D. So I tried
getting the drivers off nvidia.com, and installed
them, and they work... kinda :(
I noticed that the nvidia drivers were 3.3.3.1
and the Helios drivers were
