It does not hurt, but in some situations I can't email because

Server Side Includes work only if the file is 'index.shtml'
i.e. I have 'index.shtml' which includes 'footer.shtml' at the bottom and this works
fine.
However, if the file has any other name is fails:
http://bunyip.apana.org.au/index.shtml
http://bunyip.apana.org.au/test.shtml
'test.shtml'
i've tracked the problem down to something to do with artsd and also using
alsa instead of plain oss, after googling for a copy of someone else's
/etc/modules and persuading alsa to start on boot, i now get an error message
from audacity - 'error opening audio device', $rec doesn't do anything

i've had to disable arts for various reasons and i was wondering, is there a
way to run noatun without it? i'm running alsa 0.9 so i still seem to be able
to have multiple playback of sounds.

I did a stupid thing. I'll admit that right upfront.
windows was a bit unstable.. so I reinstalled.
now my linux installation doesn't boot, due to partition table problem.
Let me explain my setup:
primary disk:
/dev/hdb1-small windows boot partition for windowsXP FAT32
/dev/hdb3-
For recover of the old partition table try gparted. It's saved my buns
a couple of times. It should be on the recovery disk if not I'm 98%
sure it's in tomsrtbt

Bascule,
Don't know if you can get around artsd with noatun except to do as I
do... switch to xmms.

Not at all, you just didn't realize how to fix this :)
Can anyone help me recover my essential files? Is there a way to 'fix'
the partition table? Is there a way to boot anyway and get to my files?
Helllp!!!
ah :-) i already use xmms on a permanently playing random playlist of all my
mp3s, i just like to have noatun registered to open odd files i click on to
see what they are like without disturbing xmms and the loaded playlist

Hi, I recently bought a D-Link 4 port KVM switch. When

I run XFree 4.2. My mouse used to work before with

That actually helped! So thanks :)
But there's a wist to the tale:
turns out windows installation turned the 'C' (hdb1) from fat32 to ntfs.
it's that I am guessing is the cause of the partition changes.
The result is that doing the 'rescue' suggested lets me recover hdb6 but
not hdb3.

I have recently bought a new 80G disk, and an ATA133 card to

use my old 20G disk as a removable disk, so I can use it for
backups instead of CDs. As such, the new disk is hde, while
the old one is still hda.

Hey I can answer this one!... *grin* I've got the same one, and
here is what I had to do. Configure the mouse with it installed
directly on the computer(plugged in the back of the box not the kvm.)
Start the box, and make sure it's working correctly. Without shutting
down the box move

Well this upgrade has really opened my eyes about linux. While I have
loved linux since kernel 0.9, it really can't be called a real operating
system. All I want to do is burn cd's. Not pirate mp3 cd's, backup
cd's for my data. Well since I upgraded from a K6-2 400 to an athlon
