is that I can't add the pc to become a member of the domain,
nor can I see the shares.
I always get a box to enter a pwd. Root doesn't work and I set the
encryption for passwords to yes.
Can someone guide me.
Thanxs

no longer do this. My Xaccess file is set to '*' but
I am unsure of what to check next. If I run xdm instead of
kdm, the system works ok. This problem occurs whether
a remotely host is on the same subnet or not. Any ideas?
Please advise; thanks.

If your device for the CDRW is, say, hdc, then add the following to your
append line in /etc/lilo.conf:
ide-scsi=hdc
Reboot, then run cdrecord -scanbus to see if it sees your burner.

vncserver fails. Users logged in through xdm get /usr/X11/bin added to
their PATH, but remote logins do not.
Is this the way things are supposed to work? It doesn't seem right to
simply add it to the user's .bashrc.

Your example *might* give problems if the lilo versions do not match.
*Might* means, it *might* work without any hassles, but chroot /mnt/disk
/sbin/lilo is safer, IMO.

You can add these manually:
urpmi nameofsource ftp://host.com/pub/path/to/Mandrake/Updates/8.0/i586 \
with ../hdlist.cz
(Command is all on one line)
I usually don't mess with the software manager myself, but Im alittle
command line anyway.
