I have to reset it up Mandrake 7.0 but I had my QIC drive working under 6.1. If I
recall it correctly if you have ftape and zftape the command is modprobe
/dev/ftape I hope this helps.

The command would simply be modprobe ftape.

I'm not sure, but when the LILO prompt comes up at boot enter linux 3 and that is

Find a DOS 6.x or Win9x or any boot disk with FDISK.EXE on it. Boot go to C: drive
and emter a:\fdisk /mbr this fixes the master boot record. Hopefully NT will boot
for you then. After that is done you can boot into Linux with your Linux boot
disk and restore LILO.

Edit /etc/lilo.conf and add the line
append="mem=192M"
then run lilo by typing lilo at the prompt. Reboot and see what it says.

What version are you using? I believe I have 5.18 and it works fine. Have you
double checked to make sure your e-mail information is set up correctly like your

Hi Glyn
Change it to append ="mem=32M" then type lilo to run the change and

I don't know why but on some systems you have to go one less than the number.
Since below your total is (23 at boot plus 8 meg for video) 31 then try
append="mem=31M" and rerun lilo. Then reboot.

Copy rawrite.exe from the cdrom to a directory on your hard drive and put your new
cdrom.img in the same directory on your hard drive. From a dos window in the same
directory the command would be rawrite -f cdrom.img -d a: which creates the
install disk to install from CDROM.

I know you mentioned that you tried various append="mem=128M" in
lilo.conf, and that you ran /sbin/lilo after. I vaguely recall reading that for
some reason on some machines it needs to be 1 less than the actual number. Try
append="mem=127M" and run /sbin/lilo again and see if that helps.

Did you just update our version of Samba? SWAT is a html based configuration tool
for Samba.

I don't know what caused it but I had this happen when I turned off my
second drive. Check to make sure both drives are still being detected in
your BIOS or that the correct C,H,S (cylenders, heads and sectors) are set.

I'm close but not quite there. I ran a small Java based news server under Windows

Most scripts come with documentaion on what changes you have to make to them when

Has something happened to the list? I haven't seen 1 message in a couple of days.
I haven't used my tape drive in a while so I don't know if this will help. But try
the following
lsmod (to see if the module zftape or ftape is loaded)
modprobe zftape
Then try your taper -T zftape after the module is loaded.

The first version of KDE2 1.91 I tried I didn't have a problem but ever
since the one that came out on June 10th I can't get it to run. When I try
to run dcopserver I get the follwoing error:
