I wonder how I can create a guest account on my computer with a password
(guest, hmmm:-) in which the guest user can only see and copy (with scp) the
files under the home directory (and nothing else).

SSH is not usually started by xinetd. Try:
chkconfig --list |grep sshd
It doesn't show anything
Look at which runlevels sshd is turn on. If they are all off, try:
chkconfig --level 2345 sshd on
error reading information on service sshd: No such file or directory

Ummm, using a non-Mandrake package. We use openssh, not RSA's ssh.
Does it mean that I am in trouible for not using Mandrake package? Is there a
workaround (not that one of removing ssh and installing openssh)?

Although I have written a pdfnup (pdf2ps, ps2pdf and psnup) script for my own
use, I am not happy with the results. The original file has 7 MB and
two-page-per-sheet outcome 30 MB. (These are pdf files - when they are

I am trying to scp some files from one host to another but no success. shh

Your trying to use a ssh version that is too old. ssh v 1.2.33
(commercial) only supports protocol version 1.x, not 2.0 that is used
with 3.2.0 ssh.
upgrade your ssh client on the client side.
if regular ssh works, then your remote machine has fallback turned on
(it will fire up sshd v1.x
