find something.

Hello:
I just installed LM7.2 in my PC, and after the install I wanted to
compile a custom kernel, but something bad happened. After doing 'make
bzImage', the computer gets slower and slower to respond, and after some
2 minutes it freezes, but there a lot of HD activity. I left the
computer
You can use the ALSA drivers for AC97. I think the URL is www.alsa.org.

Hi list !
I've been trying to listen to my (mute) speakers for a too long time !!
Neither Lothar, nor soundconfig is able to configure the AC'97 (Sound
Blaster compliant)sound included in VT6X4
I bought a soundcard with the Trident 4DWave-DX chipset and the only way to get
this card to work in linux was to get the ALSA drivers, and so I did. I
followed the steps described in the INSTALL and README file, but i still had no
sound, until I read the ALSA sound mini-howto.
After compiling,

What you need to do is compile the new kernel and install it (that is, copy
bzimage and System.map into the /boot directory) and add the newly compiled
kernel in the /etc/lilo.conf file. After that, every time you boot, you can
select which kernel to boot. It's that simple.

Why do you use 2 separate swap partitions? That's a waste of space, since you
can use the same swap space for both linux instalations. Use those 128megs in a
more productive way.
