i'm running mandrake 7.1 with apache-1.3.12-24 from cooker (same problem
with 1.3.12-12 from the 7.1 install) and access_log is not being written
to until the daemon is stopped or SIGHUP'ed at which point the info *is*
logged to access_log. i've left the logging bit of http.conf as it cam
