I am trying to install Linux-Mandrake on a DEC ALPHAstation 255.
I have obtained an install CD from Mr. O's Linux Emporium
I have created a boot disk
I sucessfully boot into milo(Alpha variant of lilo)
I type the following boot command

boot scd0:/boot/instboot.gz root=/dev/fd0 load_ramdisk=1 mdkinst rw
ramdisk_size=32000
It requests the boot floppy(in drive) I hit <enter>
It loads the install program
I select 'Local CDRom' for Installation Method
I select 'SCSI' for the type of CDROM that i have.
It loads second stage ramdisk
Initializing CDROM, in second stage install
I select English (US) for language
I select Expert installation class
I select Normal usage(this will eventually be a web server, ie NO ftp or
telnet)
I select YES for try to find PCI devices
NO other devices(Found Symbios| 53c810 scsi interface. Do you have another
one?)
Select Install on Install/Upgrade screen
Select Generic Mouse (PS/2)
Select US keyboard
I get a list of languages, this covers up the Linux screen, parts can be seen
behind it)
Select English (US)
I get a segmentation fault
I says ' seems like memory is missing as the install crashes error :( switch to
console f2 for a shell Press <Enter> to reboot

The machine is now locked up, neither f2 or enter will work. Please respond
privately as I am subscribed to this list.
