Interesting i was getting the same messages, but my computer hung (i didn't try cntrl-c, that might have help). I recompiled my kernel and turned off the winbond stuff. I also was NOT getting this behavior on earlier mdk versions, only 8.0. Ken

Hi all, I was thinking about upgrading to the latest development packeges (for a bunch of reasons) using mandrake update My current system is 7.2 + all latest normal updates. Anyone done this recently? Any reasons to definately wait? (known problems, compatibility issues, etc) Thx! Ken

just notince something else about menudrake. If i run it as root from a shell, it doesn't work. If i run it from DrakeConf (as a user), and enter the root password, then run menudrake, it works?!?!?! Ken

Ok, now i'm really confused. menudrake is now working fine for me. I did upgrade to the latest "normal" updates and upgraded xalf to version xalf-0.4-4.1mdk to fix a different problem. I'm CERTAIN i'm not using menudrake any differently, so something must have fixed it. Ken

Actually, mine started working after i upgrade xalf (0.4-4.1) AND i loged out and logged back in. Maybe that version fixes the problem. I think that was the only other thing that changed ?? got me Thanks! Ken

Just to answer a couple of the messages i received. 1) i use gnome, not kde. Shouldn't matter, but maybe there's some weirdness. I haven't tried to see if the menu's in kde change (i didn't install it so i can't run it), but i have tried icewm and it hasn't changed either. 2) i did make
