I would like to log the uptime of our systems, just I cannot see into the
future to expect when a system crashes so an aproach that logs, like 1 time
per hour should do it.
I guess you could run a crontab script that just cat's the uptime output into
/var/log/uptime
This however will be

Hi there,
Anyone knows of a log statistics program for cups? Would be nice to have
reports generated of who is using the printers connected to cups.
TIA,

Hi there,
Using scp in a script is not the best idea, but it's kind the best option
right now.
I'm just having troubles doing a scp without specifying password.
I know it is supposed to run in batchmode, but I'm pretty lost.
Any help would be appreciated.

If you compare iptabels of 2.4 with OpenBSD's netfilter you notice
something is wrong when it comes to logging.
OpenBSD does logs very easily and with a lot of info, just what you expect
from a firewall.
BUT!!! I cannot get any info out of iptables, just a little tiny bit.
Say, how do you log

When MDK 7.2 was announced, one of the features listed was phpgroupware from
www.phpgroupware.com
But as far as I can see the package does not seem to be on either of the

Anyone knows where to get the package? I could get it from the source at the
distro site, but I would like to see

I had the same problem in MDK 7.1, what I did was to cut and paste a user
from the /etc/passwd file to the /var/zope/access file. Yes a hack but it
worked.

I still have problems finding PGPnet in a exportable version, the freeware
version 6.5.3 of PGP should include it. But.
Anyone knows of other clients?
However for people you would like to play around with this I found an
excelent howto.
Have a look at these links:

Has anyone gotten NFS and NIS to work on Mandrake 7.1?
I had it running on 7.0 and the configuration files and process was at it
ever was using a Makefile for NIS bindings.
Now with 7.1 this has changed, I cannot find a Makefile for ypbind and I
cannot mount my NFS dirs on the server using the
Would it not be a good idea with a monthly faq posted here on this list.
Some basic questions could be easily answered pointing to a faq.
There is a lot, "how do I install, how do I use bind...etc" on the list that
of cource is relevant but could be answered by a faq.
Just a thought

Yes
It is not that difficult. The Mandrake package comes with a default caching
setup, which is nice for ppp users.
If you want something more advanced, the HOWTO (see www.linuxdoc.org) is
pretty good and explains things pretty well.
Maybe www.mandrakeuser.org has some introductory coments.
In Mandrake 7.0 there was a makefile for the bindings, passwd, services etc.
for ypbind in the /var/yp dir. Somehow this dissapeared in 7.1
And regarding NFS, when I try to mount now I get a permission denied message.

Win2k actually does have tab completion but it doesn´t work that well as in
linux and only on files and directories.
Just to finish off this thread, it really isn´t Linux related but since I
use Win2k as well as linux at work I missed the completion in windows and
found a way.
