[expert] USB keyboard woes - help!

I installed ML 7.02 fresh on a new Dell Optiplex GX1 and used a USB 
Keyboard & Mouse during the install, which went smoothly...but upon 
rebooting, the keyboard & mouse were no longer recognized (I could 
however plug in a PS/2 keyboard and log in). I tried installing again 
using the patch at 
http://www.linux-mandrake.com/drakx/patches/skipps2/patch.pl with the 
same results. I need the USB for a USB KVM switch - any ideas on a 
workaround? Thanks for any advice!
