Hi,

this morning my machine "locked up" while I was out of home. When I came back I noticed the keyboard, mouse & monitor were locked(monitor in StandyBy).

But I could ssh the machine without problem and every service was running ok(except for the X11 related programs - like VMWare - which were locked). I had to kill -9 the X process. But in the end did a hard-reset on the machine to get it back.

Looking at /var/log/messages found this interesting messages:

Oct 21 10:13:39 navi kernel: SMBus Via Pro adapter at e800: Bus collision! SMBus may be locked until next hard
Oct 21 10:13:39 navi kernel: reset. (sorry!)

I have an A7V266-C Asus board with 1GB of RAM(tested with memtest86). My /proc/pci looks like this:

From what I've looked it looks like related with the USB interface(I have and APC UPS connected to it). I'm using the 2.4.22 Enterprise Kernel.

Any ideas about what may caused the lock-up?

Tks Rodrigo
