AFAICR, LM 7.2 comes with a 2.2 kernel, which CAN be rendered unusable by a
user program unless you set some proper ulimits: if a user process just
grabs memory ( and works on it ), the machine begins to swap - and when it
runs out of a swap space, you in fact can do nothing but power cycl

try the command "poweroff". If it does not help, check your kernel
configuration: Some BIOSes want to have "use real-mode APM calls to power
off", the others ( AFAIK the most ) definitely do not want it ( my computer
( with an ASUS K7V board ) used to reboot with this feature enabled ).

does anyone know how to make the sym53c8xx ( or ncr53c8xx :-) ) to scan all
LUNs when being loaded? Normally it seems to scan only LUN 0 which causes me
to have to re-scan the scsi bus prior to loading sg - which then causes the
media changer ( I'm using a ARCHIVE/CONNER/SEAGATE changer
