there's confusion got in here somehow !!!
the kernel version I'm using is 2.4.8-26mdk
I would like to be able to use 2.4.12-3mdk
but I cant because so far I hv'nt been able to compile the modules on eithe 2.4.8 or
2.4.12
I can compile the kernls on both with gcc2.96.
I need to move to a later
I went back a version and installed mdk 8.0 and the telnet server dos'nt function on
that either.
howver the telnet server does act ok as a client, so the prblem is not a service or
xinitd function..
BUT.. I 'm still absolutly screwed with this build.

so on the next reinstall its gcc2.96 and which version of
egcs ???

if you are are look in /usr/sbin you will find listen in there,its the util like

yes I'm using 7.2 on two machines with the axutils on a 2.2.17 kernel, the axutils are
ok on the 2.4.2 kernel so 8.0 should be ok ,but hav'nt tried it yet
