There are many CD-R/RW writers that can now do the 700MB discs. I have a
yamaha scsi that does fine w/ them. Don't have the model # off hand or I'd
give it to you. It's speeds are 4/6/16 (R/RW/ROM) if that's any help.
As for the rest, I'd bet you could do it, but I don't have the knowledge h
First thing to do is go thru your file system and see what's new/missing. I
know that warez pirates will often open up a machine so that it can be used as
storage for thier pirate programs.

Anything will read them. For wtiting XCDroast works great (and comes w/
Mandrake).
You can use EZ to write - just make sure UDF is not used. I'm not sure how to
do that tho.

Most NIC's are autodetecting and will adjust automagically.

Adaptec's web site might have some information on UDF. EZCD Creator supports
it.

This worked for a text file - it did not eject the page, but hey, no big deal.
Fix that later.
So, now what? Still won't print from programs if I tell it to use lp0 (what
printtool calls the printer.

I'm having a problem with samba/smb printing. Namely that I can't.
I have an Epson 740 connected via usb to a windows machine. Windows prints
great. I have it set to share as epson on machine magnolia. I have a password
on the printer.
In printtool I've told it that it's on //magnolia/epso
