OK, I've been tweaking all day and have narrowed down the problems;
1) My second hard drive (which has some fat32 partitions on it) was
marked root only, or whatever; thus I can't see my media files, etc etc.
The fstab file *was* jacked up -- but I replaced the line for the
partition in question
Not exactly slick but I got it up and running at least. I haven't played
with it extensively yet, but here's one observation and one questions:
Observation: I use IceWM, but gdm dumped me into gnome-failsafe (with no
menus, yawn yawn) and I had to cold boot to get out of it since I'm not
