I has the same issue, and spent the good part of 1a 14 hour LAN party trying
to fix it.
It was heat. The Voodoo 3s run *exceptionally* hot, and opening up the PC,
then later purchasing a PCI powered cooling device solved the problem.
That doesn't mean I'm not turfing 3DFX on my next PC though :-
