maybe you need to restart Gnome to activate changes, if you haven't

I'm trying to put files and folders onto gnome's
desktop. But I can't find its location in my home folder. In KDE
it's simply /home/user/Desktop. I've tried /home/user/.gnome-desktop but
that doesn't seem to be it. Would any of you happen to know the real
location of gnome's desktop?
