Put at the end of a start up script like the rc.local or mandrake_everytime.

hdparm -c1 -d1 -u1 -X66 /dev/hdx to have a good performance (28-30
Mb/s); if I don't do that the rate fall down until 4 Mb/s.
Is there any way to do that automatically?
