I am running Mandrake 7.1 and using its KDE environment with an MS PS/2
intellimouse. I have repeatedly read that with KDE you do "not" need to
have imwheel running to use the scroll mouse. On my system the scroll mouse
did not scroll UNTIL I put in the command imwheel -k and made the necessary
I think you don't need imwheel in KDE 2.. I don't have it running anymore
(after upgrading to KDE 2 Beta 4). I am not so sure about KDE 1.1.2
The changes in Xconfig are necessary coz u are changing a hardware device..

In /etc/X11/XF86Config make sure the Pointer/Input Device Section looks
similar to the following:
XFree86 3.3.x:
Section "Pointer"
Protocol"IMPS/2"
evice "/dev/psaux"
ZAxisMapping 4 5
# Emulate3Buttons
# Emulate3Timeout50
# ChordMiddle is an option for some 3-button Logitech mice
#ChordMiddle
EndSection

Everything is working fine on my system now so I am loathe to change

imwheel is for special apps and that KDE is automatically configured to use
it when that is just not the case on my setup.
