I am not sure what I did, but my local Lexmark Z51 and a remote HP Laserjet (on a Windows/me PC) do not appear on the drop-down printer list when I try to print from Kword (or anything else so far as I can determine). The HP should be the default, but "--------" appears in the box as the default.
When I hit the drop down arrow, 4 choices appear: mail, fax, and a couple of print to files. When I hit the add printer icon, and go to the next screen, all of the backend selection boxes are grayed. If I check on the Class of Printers button, and click next, both lists are empty. I attempted to correct this by doing a Mandrake 8.1 upgrade. When I got to the printer configuration process, both the Z51 and HP printers appear as preconfigured previously. The Z51 correctly prints a test page, the HP does not. I had both working a while back under 8.0, and the Z51 used to work under 8.1. I have been trying to use samba for the first time, and my samba configuration seems to be messed up.
