[expert] Mandrake 7 X-Windows doesn't work with VMWare

I installed Mandrake 7 under VMWare. I cannot get XFree86 to work however.
Neither the generic VGA-server nor the VMWare server worked properly. Both
crashed with a segfaullt. Earlier versions of Mandrake (or Red Hat for that
matter) worked perfectly.

Any ideas what could be the problem?
