Dear Matt and friends: I have isolated the problem, thanks to Matt Stegman's latest suggestion: When I type in the console ( but NOT in xterm): \ls (backspace plus "ls") I get a correct listing of all my files and directories Same when I type alias ls. A full listing of files and directories
