many motherboards set irq based on what slot the card is in, I always stay
away from the slot closest

This is hopefuly true of all cards; "line out" is meant to go into an
amp or tape recorder, and speaker-level volumes might blow out the
components.

card under Mandrake 7,(2.2.14-15mdk) I followed some advice given on this list
and upgraded to the new kernel on the Cooker 2.2.15-0.18mdk -
and hey the sound card works!! BUT barely - the volume is
pathetic, barely audible. T
