Hi,

I just upgraded from Mandrake 8.2 to Mandrake 9.0 RC2. I had selected
"Upgrade packages only" the first time but, things did not work right
after the install. Moreover, I still had Gnome 1.4 !! So, I just
rebooted with the Install CD and this time selected "Upgrade" and
selected the software categories(Desktop, etc) and it installed fine.

Altough, the system looks fine, I am still not completely convinced that
it is really nice and clean (No dangling extra libraries, no broken
symlinks, no broken dependencies) This kind of feeling generally comes
when using Windows and then once every 3/6 months almost everyone
re-installs it to get that fresh clean system feeling.

Till now, I noticed that the following apps were not working at all:
1. Mandrake Control Center

[root@sandeepk sandeepk]# mcc
gdk-pixbuf library is not available at /usr/lib/libDrakX/ugtk.pm line 762.

2. rpmdrake

[root@sandeepk sandeepk]# rpmdrake
Base class package "URPM" is empty.
(Perhaps you need to 'use' the module which defines that package
first.) at /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.0/urpm.pm line 5
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at
/usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.0/urpm.pm line 5.
Compilation failed in require at
/usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.0/rpmdrake.pm line 26.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at
/usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.0/rpmdrake.pm line 26.
Compilation failed in require at /usr/sbin/rpmdrake line 40.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/sbin/rpmdrake line 40.
[root@sandeepk sandeepk]#

3. OpenOffice

I just uninstalled it so cannot send you it's dying output. Sorry.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,
Sandeep

Quote of the day:

Failure is the foundation of truth. It teaches us what isn't true, and
that is a great beginning. To fear failure is to fear the possibility of
truth.
