If it made you feel better, a good place is /etc/bashrc. You could also
create a profile script in /etc/profile.d as well.

vncserver fails. Users logged in through xdm get /usr/X11/bin added to
their PATH, but remote logins do not.
Is this the way things are supposed to work?
