I've experienced this in 7.2 as well as 8.0, but it's worked fine in
every RH distro I've tried. When I try to run chattr on a particular
file, it always returns the following error:
chattr: Inappropriate ioctl for device while reading flags on
/etc/lilo.conf
(This time the file being /etc/lilo
