I would think that it most certainly is possible to run 8.2 with the
2.4.19 kernel. I'm running 8.1 with that kernel.

Works fine. You might also want to look at the low-latency and
pre-emptible kernel patches if you're using the stock Linus kernel.

It is possible (I have done it) but there are a couple of dependencies
that must be resolved as well (can't remember those off the top of my
head) but other than that, no sweat.
