I did an strace on updatedb. it hangs in a permanent loop doing these 3 calls, after perhaps 10 - 15 minutes (strace slows things down dramatically). lseek(4,0,SEEK_SET) = 0 lseek(4,0,SEEK_CUR) = 0 getdents(4,0 28 12 28 /* 2 entries*/,3933) = 28 When I get the round tuit, I'll investigate. In the meantime I thought others out there would be interested. bug
